Harvard UL
Harvard UL is the standard referencing style used in LYIT. All students, except Law students, should use Harvard UL referencing style for coursework, projects and theses. The Harvard UL "Cite it Right " manual can be accessed here. This manual provides a comprehensive overview of the Harvard UL referencing style. Pages 21 - 43 of the manual provide comprehensive examples of sample references.
Library Hints - Referencing
Students that use online reference managers report that they can compile their citations and bibliographies with ease. They recommend that all students should attend a library information skills session on referencing.
Electronic Reference Manager
Online reference managers manage your references. They can automate much of the work of organising and formatting citations and bibliographies. Online reference managers can connect to online sources such as Google and most databases. They can output bibliographies in numerous referencing styles including Harvard UL (which is the referencing style used by LYIT students with the exception of Law students).

Zotero Training
Classroom based Zotero training can be arranged by your course coordinator. Alternatively, you may contact the library directly here.
Drop in Sessions
Subject to staff availability, drop in sessions are available in the library during term time from 11am - 12 noon on a Monday (excluding Bank Holidays). These sessions provide additional support and help to students setting up Zotero accounts. If you plan to attend this drop in session, please ring 074 9186150 or email the library directly here in advance, to confirm that sufficient staff are free to provide the training.
