Research: Information Skills Training

Library Hints - Information skills

Students that attend information skills sessions report that the skills they learn are extremely useful when they are doing their assignments.

Information literacy Workshop

It is recommended that all postgraduate students attend a postgraduate information skills workshop.  During this workshop, you will explore advanced features of:

  • referencing
  • databases
  • open source
  • reports/company information
  • researching for theses and academic papers

Your program coordinator will book your postgraduate information skills workshop.

One to One User Education

Students that are unable to attend user education workshops may arrange a training session by contacting the library at library@lyit.ie.  It is recommended, when possible, that you attend the library for these user education sessions.  In exceptional circumstances Skype sessions may be organised for students who are unable to travel to the LYIT.

Drop in Training Session

Subject to staff availability during term time, a drop in training session is available in the library on Mondays (excluding bank holidays) from 11am-12pm.  Students that have difficulty setting up their Zotero account may attend these sessions also.   If you plan to attend this drop in session please ring 074 9186150 in advance to confirm that sufficient staff are free to provide the training.
