Research: Borrowing Books

Please use the self issue system located on the ground floor beside the spiral staircase when borrowing books.  You must always provide your current student ID card to use the self issue system.  If you require assistance, please ask a member of staff on the information desk.

Normal Loan/Regular Lending books

A small selection of our books are for short term loan such as "one week loans" or "three day loans".  The loan period for these books is clearly labelled on the front cover of the books.  Some books are labelled "Reference Only" at the lecturers request, and these books may not be borrowed, but are available for consultation within the library.

Borrowed books are subject to recall at any time.  Further information on how to reserve borrowed books online is provided here.

Fines will be charged for all library material that is overdue.  Library fines are payable via the self issue system.  Students must pay all outstanding fines before checking out books.  Details of fines charged are displayed within the library.  Since the introduction of fines, there has been a significant reduction in the number of books that are overdue thereby giving all students equal access to our book stock.

Books that are not reserved or recalled may be renewed on a further two occasions.  Further information on how to renew your books online is provided here.
